Dulu lays importance of making Lalmonirhat as a regional economic hub

LALMONIRHAT, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS)- Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu today laid importance on making Lalmonirhat district as regional economic hub saying the district has immense potential to develop border trade, agriculture, tourism and human resources. 

"Lalmonirhat can become an important regional economic hub if due attention is given to development of Burimari land port, trade, communication, agriculture and agro-based industries,” he said. 

Dulu said this while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized on the occasion of the 'Hamar Lalmoni' (Our Lalmonirhat) exhibition at Lalmonirhat Circuit House on Thursday night. 

 “Lalmonirhat is not just a district, it has a long history, tradition, potential and struggle of people. A distinct economic base of Lalmonirhat has been developed around the livelihood, agriculture and culture of the Teesta riverside people,” he said. 
 
Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Rashedul Haque Prodhan was in the chair. Representatives of various professions including politicians, teachers, lawyers and journalists were present.
 
The minister said that the lives of the people of Lalmonirhat revolve around Teesta river and Dharla. 
 
 Referring to the cultural heritage of Lalmonirhat, he said, lifestyle of the people of this area, folk music, folk traditions and festivals are valuable assets of our national heritage.
  
In the future, Lalmonirhat will be developed as a modern, prosperous and peaceful district in combination of its rich tradition and enormous potential, Dulu said.
