BOGRA, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - The government has taken an initiative to modernise and renovate traditional Shakpala Park at Shakpala intersection in Bogura town, which was built at the initiative of Tarique Rahman, then BNP Joint Secretary General and now Prime Minister.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam laid the foundation stone for the renovation of Shakpala Park on Saturday.

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, Bogura District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha, MP, and acting General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain, MP, were present on the occasion, among others.

Shakpala Park has long been one of the most popular recreational spots in Bogura city. During the BNP-led government from 2001 to 2006, the park was built at the initiative of Tarique Rahman.

The park deteriorated due to prolonged neglect over the past two decades and became a gathering place for drug users. It is expected that the renovated park will once again become a popular recreational facility for local residents.
