JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Aug 4, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque today said the government is working to build a Bangladesh free of educated unemployment by creating employment opportunities through skills development and training programmes.
"The government's foremost goal is to ensure that no educated young man or woman remains unemployed. We are working to ensure that educated youths do not remain idle or become a burden on their families. Through various training programmes and collaboration with different organisations, we are equipping young people with practical skills and creating employment opportunities," he said.
The state minister was addressing the 'Tiger Run 2026' programme as the chief guest at Jahangirnagar University (JU). The event was jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Forest Department, Youth Volunteer Alliance, Prottasha and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to mark World Tiger Day.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan chaired the programme, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Nazrul Islam and Prottasha Executive Director Monowara Begum attended as special guests.
Aminul Haque said, "The government is not only focusing on producing graduates but also on developing a skilled workforce by providing vocational and professional training in collaboration with different organisations, enabling young men and women to secure meaningful employment."
Lauding the initiative taken by Jahangirnagar University, he said, "Such initiatives will help educate young people about wildlife, particularly the Royal Bengal Tiger and the rich biodiversity of the Sundarbans, while encouraging them to take an active role in protecting the environment."
"Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has set an inspiring example through his affection and care for animals," he added.
The state minister also appreciated the awareness messages delivered by Forest Department officials during the programme, saying such campaigns would inspire young people to contribute to conservation efforts.
Teachers, students, Forest Department officials, athletes and members of different voluntary organisations participated in the programme.
