RAJSHAHI, Aug 3, 2026 (BSS) - A seminar on modern Iranian poet Mohammad Hossein Shahriar was held today at the Department of Persian Language and Literature of the University of Rajshahi (RU).

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Faridul Islam attended the day-long seminar as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Md Abdul Alim, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Mamunur Rashid, and Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Belal Hossain were present as special guests.

The seminar was chaired by the department's Chairperson, Professor Tahmina Begum. Mahdi Mowlai Arani, Cultural Counselor at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dhaka, attended the event as the guest of honour.

Lecturer Kamal Hossain of the department presented a paper titled Moral and Humanitarian Consciousness in the Poetry of Mohammad Hossein Shahriar.

Teachers, students, and researchers of the Department of Persian Language and Literature, along with other invited participants, attended the seminar.
