RAJSHAHI, Aug 1, 2026 (BSS)- Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, said a 
special memorial will be built for the July martyrs of Rajshahi to uphold the 
sacrifice of the martyrs of the July mass uprising and the indomitable spirit 
of the student-people's struggle against fascism.
 
He announced the construction of a permanent memorial monument in memory of 
the martyrs of the July mass uprising, similar to the memories of Bir 
Shreshtha Mohiuddin Jahangir and Dr. Zoha in Rajshahi.
 
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting 
organised on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Mass Uprising '24 
and the fall of fascism at Rajshahi College Auditorium this noon.

The Rajshahi Mass Uprising '24 Parishad organised the event.
 
He prayed for the salvation of the souls of all the martyrs including martyrs 
Abu Sayeed, Mugdho and local martyrs of Rajshahi Shakib Anjum, Ali Raihan and 
Minarul Islam.

Land Minister Minu said: "Just as Dr. Zoha sacrificed his own life in 1969 to 
save the students, similarly in the July mass uprising of 2024, our children 
have shed blood unhesitatingly in the same way. The nation will never forget 
this great sacrifice." 

He expressed the government's commitment to ensuring proper medical treatment 
for those injured in the movement.

Work is progressing rapidly to establish a specialized hospital with the 
assistance of the Chinese government for advanced treatment of the injured, 
he said. 

In addition, arrangements have been made to send those who need to be sent 
abroad to Singapore, Thailand or Malaysia. 

Regarding the social and financial security of the martyr families, he said 
that long-term financial security plans are being made for each martyr 
family. 

Especially for those who are seeking employment, special priority will be 
given in job examinations and the administration has been instructed to take 
appropriate measures according to their list. 

He said new Bangladesh must be built not through politics of revenge or 
vengeance, but through good behavior and patriotism.
 
The keynote speaker at the event was Dr. Iftikharul Alam Masud, registrar of 
Rajshahi University.
 
Presided over by Mahbub Siddiqui, president of Rajshahi Mass Uprising 24 
Parishad, special guests present at the event were former Vice-Chancellor 
(VC) of Kushtia Islamic University Prof Rafiqul Islam, President of Rajshahi 
Bar Association Advocate Md. Abul Kashem and Zila Parishad Administrator 
Advocate Ershad Ali Isha.

Earlier, the Minister greeted the July fighters with floral wishes.
