DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has asked the officials to ensure that all ongoing projects under the ministry are completed within the stipulated timeframe.

"Our primary goal is to ensure the best possible use and effectiveness of the ongoing projects," he said while chairing a review meeting at the ministry on Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year of 2026-27.

According to the Planning Ministry review, Swapon said, in most projects, there is an unethical practice involving contractors, engineers, and political patronage.

Asking the officials to demonstrate complete sincerity in project implementation, he said, "There are two key issues to keep in mind regarding the ongoing projects. First, ensure maximum utility and include any necessary components. Second, divide the remaining work into a clear timeline so that it can be completed on schedule. We must prevent the misuse of public funds and ensure that every taka allocated for a project is spent properly."

At the meeting, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury proposed developing an integrated digital dashboard to enhance the pace of project implementation.

After one project is completed, work on new initiatives should proceed in parallel instead of waiting for the next project to begin, he said adding that this will ensure that no assets or component remain unused after a project's completion.

Every task must be completed on time, within the approved budget, and while maintaining quality, said Yasser.

Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman said the Prime Minister is very serious about the 180-day programme so that officials must place greater emphasis on implementing plans.

When approving a major project, its design should be prepared in such a way that it delivers multiple benefits simultaneously, he added.

State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki stressed the importance of closely monitoring the costs and effectiveness of the ministry's ongoing projects.

Planning Commission Member (Socio Economic Infrastructure Division) Nasreen Jahan, Information and Broadcasting Secretary (Routine Charge) Shah Alam were present, among others.
