DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita today said necessary steps would be taken to expand the Secretariat Executive Canteen to provide officials and employees with more comfortable and improved services.

"The existing space is relatively limited. Necessary steps will be taken to expand the canteen so that everyone can receive services more comfortably and in an improved environment," she said.

The minister made the remarks during a surprise inspection of the Executive Canteen at the Bangladesh Secretariat here this afternoon.

The canteen is operated by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC), an organisation under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

Afroza said surprise inspections would be conducted regularly without prior notice to ensure the best possible services for officials and employees.

She warned that immediate action would be taken if any irregularity, mismanagement or negligence in maintaining service standards was detected in the operation of the canteen.

The minister encouraged officials and employees to report any complaint or suggestion regarding food quality, environment or services to the authorities concerned or directly to her.

She said the government attaches the highest importance to resolving complaints promptly and continuously improving service standards.

During the inspection, Afroza closely examined the quality and prices of food, cleanliness, hygiene, overall environment and service standards at the canteen.

Following the inspection, Afroza directed the authorities concerned to make the canteen cleaner, more modern and service-friendly.

She also instructed them to strengthen regular monitoring and accountability to ensure an improved, hygienic and service-oriented environment for Secretariat officials and employees.

"There can be no compromise on the quality of services," she directed.
