Four doctors suspended for unauthorized absence from workplace

DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has  suspended four government doctors of different hospitals in Satkhira for their absence from workplaces without the permission of the authorities.

The decision was announced through separate notifications issued on July 27 by the Discipline-1 wing of the Health Services Division of the ministry. The notifications were signed by health secretary Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury.

The suspended doctors are-Dr. Sohana Selim, Junior Consultant (ENT) at Satkhira Medical College, Dr. Palash Kumar Sarkar, Radiologist at Satkhira Sadar Hospital, Dr Shaoli Nanjiba Tanvi, Medical Officer at Tala Upazila Health Complex and Dr. Md. Hasibur Rahman, Junior Consultant (ENT) at Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

According to the notifications, section 39(1) of the Government Service Act, 2018 authorizes the government or the appointing authority to place an employee under  suspension when departmental proceedings are proposed or initiated, taking into account the nature and gravity of the allegations, the necessity of relieving the employee from official duties and the possibility of influencing the investigation.

The ministry said the four doctors have been placed under  suspension with effect from July 27, the date of the notifications. During the suspension period, they will be entitled to subsistence allowance in accordance with the rules.
