DHAKA, July 28, 2026 (BSS) - Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu said that the government is working to eliminate class discrimination in society. 

He said the present government is committed to ensuring the welfare of underprivileged people and creating a corruption-free working environment, said an official handout. 

Minu was addressing an orientation programme for newly recruited peshkars at Land Record and Survey Department at Bhumi Bhaban in the capital’s Tejgaon. 

He urged the newly appointed employees to work for the country and its people with complete transparency and honesty while upholding the respect of their parents and teachers.

State Minister for Land Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin spoke as the special guest at the programme with Land Record and Survey Department Director General Md Abul Hasanath Humayun Kabir in the chair.

Helal said there has been no record in the past 20 years of such a smooth and fair recruitment process in Bangladesh. 

 “Those of you who secured jobs by spending only Tk 125 without any lobbying, and the experiences you have shared, have truly impressed us,” he said,

He added that the country had been plagued by corruption and irregularities for the past two decades.

The state minister said that following the 31-point outline announced before the election, the government has undertaken the implementation of the first 180-day programme in the country. 

Regarding land management, he said that the entire land administration system often has to bear the burden of corruption committed by a small number of dishonest officials working at the field level.

Therefore, everyone must remain free from corruption and perform their duties with honesty, he said.

Highlighting people’s rights, the state minister said the citizens who come to government offices to receive services are the real owners of the country. 

“You must realize that these people are the owners of the republic, and you must provide them with the highest quality service,” he said. 

He called upon officials to build a self-reliant Bangladesh by embracing the spirit of “Bangladesh First” and ensuring that services reach marginalized communities through the establishment of an equitable and justice-based society.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land ASM Saleh Ahmed, Chairman (Secretary) of the Land Appeal Board Md. Abdullah Al Baki and Chairman (Secretary) of the Land Reform Board AJM Salahuddin Nagari were also present.
