DHAKA, July 27, 2026 (BSS)- The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has directed all institutions under its authority to convert unused land into playgrounds as part of efforts to ensure adequate sports facilities in both urban and rural areas.
According to an order published today on the DTE website, heads of Technical Teachers’ Training Colleges, Engineering Colleges, Polytechnic Institutes, and Government Technical Schools and Colleges have been instructed to take necessary steps in coordination with relevant authorities.
The directive specifies that any unused land must be developed into playgrounds following designs approved by the National Sports Council (NSC).
Institutions have also been asked to identify suitable plots in their schedules and mouza maps and submit details to the DTE.
Additionally, existing playgrounds that are currently unusable should be renovated to make them fit for sports activities.
The order further instructed institutions to send reports of their initiatives to the DTE by July 30 via email at [email protected], in line with decisions taken at a meeting of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
