DHAKA, July 27, 2026 (BSS) — The Directorate of Technical Education has expressed concern over lower-than-expected enrollment in the HSC (Vocational) programme at government Technical School and Colleges and has instructed institutions to implement seven measures, including intensified promotional campaigns, to increase student admissions.

In a letter issued today, the directorate instructed the principals of all government Technical School and Colleges across the country to take the necessary steps.

The letter said that despite having adequate infrastructure, manpower, and educational resources, enrollment in HSC (Vocational) courses at government Technical School and Colleges has not reached the expected level. As a result, government infrastructure, human resources, and educational facilities are not being fully utilized, creating challenges for the expansion of technical education.

To address the situation, the directorate has instructed institutions to implement seven specific measures. These include:
1.    Conducting promotional and awareness campaigns among secondary school students.
2.    Organising motivational meetings involving guardians, students, local public representatives, and other distinguished persons.
3.    Carrying out extensive publicity highlighting the institutions’ various trades, modern laboratories, employment opportunities, and prospects for higher education.
4.    Promoting the courses widely through online platforms, including social media, cable television, local media, banners, and leaflets.
5.    Ensuring the enrollment of students who have passed SSC (Vocational) from their respective institutions into HSC (Vocational) courses.
6.    Issuing office orders assigning each teacher responsibility for enrolling a specified number of students.
7.    Submitting updated trade-wise enrollment information to the Directorate of Technical Education in the prescribed format.

The directive further said that the first report on overall enrollment progress and the activities undertaken must be submitted to the Directorate by August 20. Principals have also been instructed to submit the final enrollment data by September 15.
