SYLHET, July 25, 2026 (BSS) - Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury today said the 
government is making sincere efforts to take healthcare services to the doorsteps of the people. 

"In this regard, importance is also being given to homoeopathic treatment," he said.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a certificate distribution ceremony for students who successfully completed the DHMS (Diploma in Homoeopathy 
Medicine and Surgery) course of Jalalabad Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital at a hotel in the city today.

The minister assured all-out cooperation in upgrading the traditional institution, established in 1968, from a diploma-level institute to a 
bachelor (degree)-level institution.

The programme was presided over by the acting principal of the college, Dr Abdullah Al Mujahid Khan.

Reiterating his deep confidence in homoeopathic treatment, the minister said, "I myself have been taking homoeopathic treatment regularly since a road 
accident in 1999. Basically, the main reason behind the global popularity of this treatment method is that it has no side effects."

Sylhet Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Saida Parvin addressed the event as a special guest.

Among others present at the programme were Deputy Secretary of the concerned ministry Mohammad Shamsul Islam, Vice Principal of the college Dr Emdadul 
Haque, one of the members of the managing committee Professor Farid Ahmed, Dr Asma Begum, teachers of the college, students and representatives of the 
civil society.

At the concluding session of the programme, certificates were formally handed over to the students who successfully completed the DHMS course in recognition of their merit.
