RAJSHAHI, July 25, 2026 (BSS)- Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, today 
said in the current situation of the country, teachers have to play the most 
responsible role in protecting the youth from the blue sting of drugs. 

"If any student goes astray, he should not be hated but should be brought 
back to the path of light through love and proper education as teachers are 
the mirror of society and the backbone of the nation," he said.
 
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration 
ceremony of the Student Welfare Council for the 2026 academic year at the 
auditorium of Rajshahi Government Teachers Training College (TTC).
 
Addressing the newly-elected student representatives, he said the arrogance 
of leadership should not touch anyone.
 
Minu emphasized on building a disciplined educational campus by maintaining 
good relations with all classmates and showing due respect to teachers.
 
Reminiscing, he said, this traditional institution has produced renowned 
educationists not only in Rajshahi, but all over the world.

The minister also mentioned that many of his family members, including his 
wife, obtained degrees from this college.
 
Mentioning various steps taken by the government for the development of the 
institution, the chief guest said that the plan for a huge multi-storied 
building, a modern auditorium and two new dormitories for Rajshahi TTC is in 
the process of being approved by the Ministry of Education.
 
He also assured to make the college playground more modern and eye-catching.
 
At this time, he wished for the continued success of the institution and 
called upon the teachers to restore their lost glory with the great vow of 
teaching.
 
The programme was presided over by Professor Dr. Biswajit Banerjee, Principal 
of Rajshahi Government Teachers Training College and special guests included 
distinguished educationist Professor Md. Rafiqul Islam, former Vice-
Chancellor of Islamic University, Kushtia, and Professor Dr. Shamim Ara 
Chowdhury, Chairman of Rajshahi Board. 
Among others, officials and employees of various government and private 
offices, teachers and students of the college, election conducting officers 
and newly elected members of the Student Welfare Council, and journalists 
were present at the event.
 
At the beginning of the ceremony, the newly-elected members of the Student 
Welfare Council were welcomed and sworn in.
