DHAKA, July 25, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 3,257 cases against traffic law violators during a two-day enforcement drive across the capital.

According to a DMP press release issued today, the drives were carried out on July 23 and 24 in different parts of Dhaka to strengthen traffic discipline. During the operations, the DMP dumped 908 vehicles and towed away another 426.

Among the eight traffic divisions, the highest number of cases was filed by the Traffic-Mirpur Division with 670, followed by Traffic-Motijheel (492), Traffic-Gulshan (458), Traffic-Wari (450), Traffic-Uttara (401), Traffic-Tejgaon (372), Traffic-Lalbagh (246) and Traffic-Ramna (168).

The Traffic-Ramna Division filed cases involving 26 buses, three trucks, six covered vans, 20 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 48 motorcycles. Traffic-Lalbagh booked 25 buses, five trucks, two covered vans, 23 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 148 motorcycles.

Traffic-Motijheel filed cases against 101 buses, 24 trucks, 34 covered vans, 68 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 199 motorcycles, while Traffic-Wari took action against 87 buses, 44 trucks, 28 covered vans, 39 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 143 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed cases involving 34 buses, three trucks, 18 covered vans, 40 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 155 motorcycles. Meanwhile, Traffic-Mirpur booked 69 buses, 22 trucks, 40 covered vans, 59 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 353 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Uttara Division filed cases involving 62 buses, 33 trucks, 24 covered vans, 40 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 126 motorcycles, while Traffic-Gulshan took action against 86 buses, six trucks, 24 covered vans, 48 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 127 motorcycles.

The DMP said its Traffic Division will continue such enforcement drives across the capital to ensure compliance with traffic laws and improve road discipline.
