Navy Chief Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah-ul-Azim pays tribute to Shikha Anirban

DHAKA, July 24, 2026 (BSS) - Newly appointed Navy Chief Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah-ul-Azim today paid tribute to the memory of the brave martyrs of the Armed Forces, who laid down their lives in the Great Liberation War in 1971, by placing a wreath at Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment. 

After paying tribute, the Navy Chief signed the visit book kept at Shikha Anirban.

Later, when the Navy Chief arrived at the Naval Headquarters, he was received by the Principal Staff Officers of the Naval Headquarters, an ISPR press release said. 

After that, a well-equipped contingent of the Bangladesh Navy gave him a guard of honour. He inspected the guard and took the salute. Senior navy officers, including the Principal Staff Officers of the Naval Headquarters, were present.

As per the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the Chief of the Navy is firmly committed to developing the Bangladesh Navy as a strong and modern blue water navy to ensure the security of the country's vast maritime boundary and blue economy, and to consolidate the sovereignty and security of the country's maritime boundary by incorporating modern technology, including modern frigates, submarines, and state-of-the-art sonar and radar systems in the Navy, the release said.

The newly appointed Navy Chief assumed responsibility as the Chief of the Bangladesh Navy on July 23, 2026.
