DHAKA, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board has directed all the madrasas of the country to form football teams and take necessary preparations for the 'Prime Minister's Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026' beginning on August 9 next.
According to a notification issued today, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the 'Prime Minister's Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026' at Chattogram Stadium on August 9.
The tournament will start simultaneously on the same date across the country.
On this occasion, every educational institution under the board has been asked to organise class-based inter-class football competitions and select skilled players.
The madrasas have been instructed to form boys and girls football teams separately at Dakhil (Cass VI-X) and Alim (1st and 2nd year) levels.
In addition, it has been asked to ensure regular practice of the teams formed under the supervision of an experienced teacher or trainer.
Information about the football teams must be sent to the board by July 30 via e-mail ([email protected]).
The notification states that this initiative will play a very effective role in developing discipline, leadership and team spirit among students through sports.
The Madrasa Education Board has requested all the heads of institutions to involve local public representatives, administration, sports enthusiasts and education enthusiasts in the successful implementation of the tournament.
