DHAKA, July 21, 2026 (BSS)- World Bank Division Director in Bangladesh Jean Pesme met with Prime Minister's Adviser and spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office Mahdi Amin at the Premier's Office today.
During the meeting, they held a fruitful discussion on various priority programmes of the government.
They exchanged views particularly on the Family Card, Farmer Card, creating employment opportunities across the country, increasing women's employment, expanding technical and vocational education and economic empowerment of marginalised and grassroots-level women.
The meeting also discussed various aspects of effectively expanding the BNP government's Family Card programme across the country and ensuring greater inclusion of poor and marginalised people, especially women, through the initiative.
They also laid emphasis on developing skilled human resources and further strengthening an employment-oriented education system.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on empowering people at the grassroots level, various priorities of the BNP's election manifesto, government policies and effective implementation strategies.
The World Bank representatives expressed their interest in sharing experiences of implementing development programmes in different countries.
They also expressed willingness to provide necessary technical support for implementing the government's priority programmes and work jointly with the government in relevant sectors.
The World Bank delegation included Gayle Martin, Dhruv Sharma, Aneeka Rahman, Syed Rashed, Al-Zayed Josh and Shrayana Bhattacharya.
