Ongoing projects to be revised in line with govt manifesto: Environment Minister

DHAKA, July 20, 2026 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo today said all ongoing projects will be reviewed and revised, where necessary to ensure they are aligned with the government's manifesto.

He made the remarks while chairing an inter-ministerial meeting between the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Planning, said a ministry press release.

Mintoo said the government would expedite the approval and implementation of new projects so that their benefits become visible within its current tenure. 

He added that future projects would be designed to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people, reaffirming the government's commitment to delivering on its election pledges.

Addressing the meeting as the special guest, State Minister Sheikh Faridul Islam said the Prime Minister is regularly monitoring the progress of government programmes. He stressed that new projects should be undertaken with careful planning to maximise public benefit.

State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki also attended the meeting, where ongoing and proposed projects of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change were reviewed.

He said projects across all ministries are currently being reviewed following directives from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. 

Emphasising the need for swift implementation, he said the government intends to launch the highest possible number of projects this year to ensure their completion within its current tenure.
