DHAKA, July 19, 2026 (BSS) - BNP today submitted its income-expenditure statement for the calendar year 2025 to the Election Commission (EC).
According to the statement, its total income in 2025 was Tk 22 crore 19 lakh 55 thousand 182, and expenditure was Tk 15 crore 26 lakh 10 thousand 857, leaving a surplus of Tk 6 crore 93 lakh 54 thousand 325.
A BNP delegation led by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi formally handed over the income-expenditure (audit report) statement to Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhter Ahmed at the EC Secretariat in Agargaon here this afternoon.
Other members of the delegation were party Treasurer and State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, and Assistant Office Secretary Monir Hossain.
Speaking at a briefing after submitting the income-expenditure statement, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "Today we submitted the income-expenditure statement for the calendar year 2025, from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, to the Commission."
He said that expenditures included financial donations to individuals, relief distribution in flood-affected districts, printing posters and leaflets, purchasing vehicles for party purposes, rally expenses, hall rent and other expenses for various discussion meetings, publishing newspaper supplements, Ramadan iftar mahfils and various official expenses.
The veteran BNP leader informed that the opening balance at the start of the year was Tk 21 crore 13 lakh 97 thousand 35. After the year's income and expenditure, the total amount deposited in banks stood at Tk 28 crore 4 lakh 71 thousand 680. Additionally, the party has Tk 2 lakh 79 thousand 700 in cash on hand. The final total balance is Tk 28 crore 7 lakh 51 thousand 360.
"As every year, the income-expenditure statement was prepared following proper auditing and legal processes. The party's auditor verified the accounts, the treasurer supervised it, and after approval and signatures from the party Chairman and Secretary General, it was submitted to the EC," he added.
Rizvi further said that submitting the income-expenditure statement to the EC by July 31 each year is part of ensuring financial transparency of political parties and establishing accountability to the people.
"Total income of Tk 22 crore 19 lakh 55 thousand 182 was received from various sources, including Executive Committee subscriptions, book sales, primary membership and nomination form sales, individual and institutional donations, and bank deposit interest," he said.
On the other hand, the party spent Tk 15 crore 26 lakh 10 thousand 857 on various sectors, including financial assistance to individuals, relief distribution in flood-affected areas, printing posters and leaflets, purchasing vehicles for party purposes, expenses for rallies and discussion meetings, hall rent, publishing newspaper supplements, Ramadan iftar mahfils and various official expenditures.
In response to a journalist's question regarding the participation of Awami League leaders in local government elections, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, since elections are not being held on party symbols, the Election Commission and the courts are responsible for deciding who can participate. The EC will determine the matter according to existing laws.
