Relief assistance continues in 7 flood-hit districts

DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated and distributed cash and relief materials in seven districts 
affected by floods, heavy rainfall, hill torrents and landslides, with relief operations continuing across the affected areas.

The flood-affected districts are Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Moulvibazar and Habiganj. 

The flood has inundated a total of 56 upazilas, 374 unions and four municipalities and claimed 59 lives, leaving at least 40 people injured.

To provide shelter for the affected people, the ministry has opened 73 shelter centres, where a total of 298 people have taken refuge.

According to a flood situation report issued by the ministry today, humanitarian assistance released from July 7 to date includes Taka 5 crore 15 
lakh in cash and 9,050 tonnes of rice. 

In addition, 4,200 bundles of corrugated iron sheets and Taka one crore 26 lakh in housing grants have been allocated.

Of the total assistance, the seven flood-hit districts have received Taka two crore 30 lakh in cash and 3,350 tonnes of rice. 

The remaining 57 districts have been allocated Taka two crore 85 lakh for financial assistance and 5,700 tonnes of rice.
