RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long workshop on engineering optimization and artificial intelligence (AI) was held at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) to develop students' skills in modern engineering technologies and AI-based decision-making.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized the workshop titled "Optimization: From GPA Prediction to AI-Powered Engineering Decision Making" on Thursday.

Former RUET student Anan Ashrabi Ananya, a PhD researcher in Industrial Optimization at Link”ping University, Sweden and AI and Optimization consultant at Norminds, conducted the workshop.

Fifty students of the department participated in the programme, which included discussions on data analytics, predictive modelling, engineering optimization, machine learning and AI applications, along with hands-on training through Python Lab and a mini hackathon.

The workshop concluded with a session on engineering careers in the age of AI, followed by certificate distribution and closing remarks.
