KUET observes July Martyrs' Day with due solemnity

KHULNA, July 16, 2026 (BSS) – Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Thursday observed July Martyrs' Day with due respect, solemnity and reverence through a series of commemorative programmes.

As part of the day's observance, a tree plantation programme was held at the KUET School premises under the supervision of the university's Tree Committee.

KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Maqsud attended the programme as the chief guest and planted saplings of various fruit-bearing, timber and medicinal trees in memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the July uprising.

The initiative also reflected the university's commitment to building a greener and environment-friendly campus.

Deans of different faculties, departmental heads, institute directors, office chiefs, teachers, officers and employees, along with the headmaster, teachers and students of KUET School, took part in the plantation programme.

Later, following the Asr prayers, a special doa and munajat were held at the university's central Jame Mosque, seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs of the July uprising.

Teachers, officials, employees and students joined the prayer programme organised by the mosque committee.

Through the observance of July Martyrs' Day, the KUET community paid deep tribute to the martyrs and reaffirmed its commitment to working together to build a humane, responsible and prosperous Bangladesh inspired by their ideals.
