RANGPUR, July 14, 2026 (BSS) - A daylong workshop titled "Training on Digital Collaboration, Communication and Wikipedia" was held at the cafeteria of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Monday.

 The BRUR Scholarship Support Office in collaboration with kiK, GIZ and Wikimedia Bangladesh organised the event at the cafeteria of the university. 
 

Students from different departments of the university participated in this day-long workshop to gain detailed ideas about digital communication and practical strategies for adding information to Wikipedia.
 

Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali was present as the chief guest on the occasion. 
 

Director of the university's Finance and Accounts Division Professor Dr Md Shahzaman and Librarian of the Central Library and Information Center Dr Md Moniruzzaman were present at the event. 

 
The keynote speakers at the workshop were Wikimedia Bangladesh Executive Member Shabab Mustafa, Bangla Wikipedia Admin Masum Al Hasan Rock, and Wikimedia Steward Muhammad Yahiya.
 

In his speech, the Vice-chancellor said that in the current era of information technology, there is no alternative to digital collaboration and efficient communication to keep pace with global citizens. 
 

"Wikipedia's contribution as an open source database is undeniable. Our students need to develop their skills in information exchange and digital platforms through such training, which will play a unique role in their future careers and research," he said. 
 

The programme was hosted and moderated by Md Mahmud Reza, Mentor and Manager of the Scholarship Support Office.
