RAJSHAHI, July 13, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP, said that ensuring safe food for people is one of the current government's top priorities.
To that end, a modern meat processing center will be built in Rajshahi to deliver safe food to people's homes.
He made these remarks as the chief guest this noon, during a stakeholder consultation meeting on the construction of a modern slaughterhouse held at the City Hallroom of the Annex Building of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).
The State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock said that in the proposed modern meat processing center in Rajshahi, the health of animals will be examined by a veterinarian before slaughter.
Animals will be slaughtered using the halal method in the presence of an imam in accordance with religious provisions, and meat quality will be controlled in a modern lab.
In addition, modern waste management methods will be followed at this center so that no part of the animal is wasted.
Besides earning foreign currency through the export of animal by-products, initiatives will be taken to produce biogas and organic fertilizer from cow dung.
Highlighting the overall development of Rajshahi, he said that this region is world-renowned for agro-industry, silk, and mango production.
Rajshahi district currently ranks second in the country in fish production. The city is also unique in terms of cleanliness.
Referring to the country's current political context and various development activities of the government, he further said that the present government is working tirelessly to fulfill the trust and expectations of the people.
Public welfare measures such as family cards, farmer cards, increased allowances for imams and muezzins, and distribution of educational materials to students are being implemented rapidly.
At that time, he expressed his commitment to build Rajshahi into a modern and ideal city while upholding its heritage and prosperity.
