RAJSHAHI, July 13, 2026 (BSS)- The family of Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, has donated Taka 10 lakh to provide scholarships to the top meritorious students of Rajshahi University (RU).
 
The minister’s wife, Salma Shahadat, Principal of Madar Bakhsh Home Economics College, handed over a cheque for the amount to RU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Faridul Islam today in a ceremony.
 
She requested the university authorities to form a trust fund with the money to award scholarships to the most meritorious students.
 
The Vice-Chancellor thanked everyone involved for the initiative. He presented a memento to Principal Salma Shahadat.
 
Notably, on July 6, during RU’s 73rd founding anniversary program, Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, the chief guest, announced a donation of Taka 10 lakh to establish an award in memory of his late father, Fazlar Rahman.
 
Others present at the event included Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Md. Abdul Alim, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Mamunur Rashid, Syndicate member Professor Md. Rezaul Karim-2, along with department chairs, hall provosts, institute directors, and distinguished faculty members.
 
Later, prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the soul of the Land Minister’s late father, Fazlar Rahman.
