DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, former Acting President and BNP National Standing Committee member Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar.
In a condolence message, the minister said he was deeply saddened by the demise of the veteran politician, renowned lawyer and patriotic statesman.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members.
The minister said Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar's long political career and dedicated service to the country and its people would continue to inspire future generations.
He described the late leader as a symbol of wisdom, honesty and responsibility, adding that the nation would remember him with profound respect for his outstanding contributions to the state.
Muktadir also highlighted Sircar's significant role in the democratic movement, the development of parliamentary democracy and his valuable contributions to the country's constitutional and legislative processes.
Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar passed away at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital in the early hours of today at the age of 95.
