Rain intensity likely to minimise in Dhaka from tomorrow: BMD

DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - Although rainfall is likely to continue in Dhaka city for another two to three days, its intensity will gradually decrease, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Talking to BSS, meteorologist Khandaker Hafizur Rahman said July is already a month of monsoon, however, heavy rain is being experienced in various parts of the country due to the influence of active monsoon winds and climatic reasons.

Stating that 82 mm of rainfall was recorded in the Dhaka city from 6 am to 12 noon today, he added that rainfall may continue in Dhaka for the next two to three days. "But its intensity will decrease with time," he said.

However, the meteorologist said, such a rainfall trend is likely to be seen throughout the July.

He said considering the risk of possible floods and landslides due to heavy rains, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre under Bangladesh Water Development Board has issued warning in advance so that people can take necessary preparations.

Keeping in mind the possibility of heavy rains, he advised the people to take proper precautions to avoid the rains while going out on the streets for the next two to three days, including umbrellas or raincoats, and to drink safe, pure water and avoid dirty or polluted water.
