DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has expressed deep shock at the death of Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, former Acting President, former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and senior Supreme Court lawyer.
In a condolence message today, the State Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
He said Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar was one of the brightest stars in the history of parliamentary democracy in Bangladesh.
"His unique role in conducting the parliament with utmost impartiality and efficiency as the Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad will be remembered forever in the political history of this country," he said.
He said the talent and contribution of Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar as a leading lawyer in establishing the rule of law, independence of the judiciary and enriching the legal arena are undeniable.
The State Minister said Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar worked till his death for the welfare of the country and its people and to uphold democratic values.
"The passing away of an experienced, wise and globally respected politician like him is an irreparable loss for the country's political and legal arenas as his absence will not be easily filled," he said.
Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar died at a city hospital early today at the age of 94.
