DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, MP, today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Acting President, former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar.

In a condolence message, the minister said Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar was a veteran, wise and democratic-minded politician of the country. 

Faqir Mahbub, also Minister for and Science and Technology, observed that during his long political career, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar made significant contributions to the country’s parliamentary democracy, political culture and public welfare by serving in various important positions, including Acting President and Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad.

His death is an irreparable loss to the country’s political arena, he added.

The minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family members, relatives, colleagues and admirers.
