DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan and the officers and employees of the parliament Secretariat today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former Speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar.

In a condolence message issued here today, the Secretary and the officers and employees of the Parliament Secretariat prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family members, said a press release of parliament secretariat.

Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar was born on December 1, 1931, at Noyabari village in Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh district. He passed away at a private hospital in the capital at around 4.19 am today.

A distinguished politician, Sircar served twice as the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad. He also served as the Acting President of Bangladesh.
