Law Minister condoles death of Jamiruddin Sircar

DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former Acting President and former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Barrister Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar.

In the condolence message, the law minister said Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar was a veteran politician, a distinguished lawyer and a dedicated champion of the country's parliamentary democracy. As Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, he discharged his responsibilities with competence, wisdom and impartiality, playing a significant role in strengthening parliamentary democracy in Bangladesh.

"Throughout his long and illustrious career, he made invaluable contributions to the country's politics, legal arena and parliamentary affairs, which the nation will remember with profound respect. With his passing, the country has lost a distinguished political leader," he added.

The law minister prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul and extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved members of his family.

Barrister Muhammad Jamiruddin Sircar died at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital's Shyamoli area early today. He was 94.
