CHATTOGRAM, July 11, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit today said the administration, Coast Guard, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Ansar and the armed forces are working in close coordination to ensure relief reaches people stranded in remote flood-affected areas.

He said the government has instructed the authorities to ensure that no affected person is deprived of assistance and that relief operations are being intensified in the worst-hit areas.

The state minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a meeting with administration officials and public representatives on the flood situation at the Chattogram Circuit House this afternoon.

Amit, who has been assigned by the government to oversee flood response and relief operations in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and the three hill districts, said he has been working in the affected areas for the past five days to assess the overall situation in coordination with the local administration.

He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is closely monitoring the flood situation in Chattogram, maintaining regular communication with local authorities and providing necessary directives.

The minister said discussions have already been held with all Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) in Chattogram district, while an extensive meeting reviewed the overall flood situation, damage assessment and ongoing relief activities.

Referring to relief efforts, he said assistance is being sent wherever needed, while the Coast Guard, BGB, Ansar and the armed forces are jointly working to reach remote areas. Relief allocation is also being increased in the affected upazilas of South Chattogram, he added.

Amit said the flood situation is being monitored round the clock and assured that the government would provide additional relief and rehabilitation support if required. Reconstruction work would be strengthened once the situation returns to normal, he added.

Chattogram City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, MPs Alhaj Ershad Ullah, Abu Sufian and Sayed Al Noman, Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ziauddin, Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Miah, and senior officials of different government departments and law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.
