DHAKA, July 2, 2026 (BSS) - A special lecture titled "Achievements and Contributions of the Faculty of Fine Art" was held today at the Osman Jamal Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU), marking the 106th founding anniversary of the institution.

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam addressed the function as the chief guest.

With Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art Professor Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh in the chair, the event was addressed by Professor Reza Asad Al Huda Anupam of the Department of Graphic Design as the special guest.

Professor Dr. Syed Azizul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, delivered the keynote speech as the main speaker.

Highlighting the significance of the Faculty of Fine Art in national life, Pro-VC (Academic) Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam said this faculty has historically been organizing major national events, including the celebration of Bangla Nababarsha (Bengali New Year) and the Mongol Shobhajatra.

Besides, the teachers and students of this faculty have glorious contributions to the movements for restoring democracy in Bangladesh, he added.

Pointing to Dhaka University's continuous progress in various international rankings, Prof. Salam emphasized further improving the research environment to maintain this momentum. He urged the Faculty of Fine Art to engage foreign teachers and students in the university's academic and research activities to enhance international cooperation.
