RAJSHAHI, July 1, 2026 (BSS) - The 65th founding anniversary of the Department of Statistics at Rajshahi University (RU) was celebrated today with various programmes and events. 

On the day, "The Professor Dr. Muktir Mohammad Ali Scholarship" was also awarded to meritorious students and researchers.
 
To mark the anniversary, Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Faridul Islam planted a tree in the courtyard in front of the department this morning, a colorful rally paraded around the campus. 

The VC, along with teachers, students, and researchers of the department, participated in the rally.
 
A discussion meeting and the award ceremony for the "Professor Dr. Muktar Mohammad Ali Scholarship" for outstanding researchers and students were held at the department. 

The VC Prof Faridul Islam attended the event as the chief guest while Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Abdul Alim, Pro-VC (Education) Prof Mamunur Rashid, and Marine Chief Engineer Shafiqur Rahman were present as special guests. 

The keynote speaker at the discussion was Prof Md. Sayedur Rahman, VC of North Bengal International University.
 
The programme was presided over by Prof Mansur Rahman, chairman of the Department of Statistics. Among others, current and former faculty members of the department, students, researchers, officers, and staff of the department were present.
 
Meanwhile, the website of the Centre for Integrated Research for Business and Society (CIRBAS) and the Asian Journal of Business and Society at Rajshahi University was inaugurated today. 

Vice-Chancellor Professor Faridul Islam inaugurated the website, www.cirbas.org, this noon in the conference room of Administration Building-1.
 
Pro-VC Abdul Alim and Prof Mamunur Rashid, Director of the Centre Prof A N M Jahangir Kabir, along with distinguished teachers, members of the centre's governing committee, general and associate members of the centre, among others, were present.
 
Inaugurating the website, the VC said that in the present era, a comprehensive website plays a crucial role in showcasing the activities of a research institution both nationally and internationally.
 
He expressed hope that the CIRBAS website would further accelerate the exchange of knowledge and research among researchers, teachers, and students.

It will also play an important role in expanding research collaboration at the national and international levels.
