RAJSHAHI, June 26, 2026 (BSS) - Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, today said Rajshahi Collegiate School is a source of pride not just for Bangladesh, but for the entire subcontinent.

Speaking on the school's upcoming bicentennial celebration in 2028, he said the event would serve as a historic reunion.

The Minister, who is himself an alumnus of the institution, made these remarks as the chief guest during a preparatory general meeting held on the school premises this afternoon.

During the meeting, Minu proposed inviting both the Prime Minister and the Education Minister to the 2028 celebrations. He noted that many high-ranking government officials including the current Chief of Army Staff are distinguished alumni who are eager to participate.

To mark the milestone, the Land Minister proposed constructing a state-of-the-art auditorium, tentatively named the "200 Years Hall," alongside an aesthetic monument modeled after Rajshahi University's Golden Jubilee Tower.

He also shared plans for a vibrant cultural program featuring renowned artists who studied at the school. Additionally, he suggested exchanging bulky crests for small, heritage-style commemorative medals modeled after classic British Museum designs that families can pass down through generations.

Minu said these diverse initiatives aim to elevate the event to an international standard and showcase the school's rich legacy. To ensure the celebration is managed with maximum transparency and integrity, an initial organizing committee has already been formed.

The Minister urged all alumni and stakeholders to unite for the love of the school, setting aside political affiliations.

The meeting was presided over by Rezaul Karim Raju, convener of the celebration preparatory committee. Special guests included Rajshahi Collegiate School Headmaster Bairul Islam and Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Esha. Government and private sector officials, teachers, former students, and journalists also attended the event.
