DHAKA, June 25, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said that Bangladesh's economic and strategic relations with China will be further strengthened with the visit of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

“Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's ongoing visit to China will play an important role in strengthening strategic ties," he said at a press conference held at BNP's central office in Naya Paltan here.

Rizvi said China has significant investments in Bangladesh's industry, infrastructure, and service sectors, while bilateral trade between the two countries amounts to approximately $18 billion.

“World leaders at the World Economic Forum conference in China praised the experience and initiatives of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in their speeches. In particular, they praised his speech on combating climate change and Bangladesh's initiatives in this regard," Rizvi added.

“The reflection of a multi-directional foreign policy is now visible, in contrast to the one-sided foreign policy of the past. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is following the path of the multi-directional foreign policy initiated by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman,” he continued.

Referring to the current government as a people-accountable government, Rizvi said, "The government will be run by prioritising the happiness, sorrows, and aspirations of the people."

He claimed that BNP never adopted any policy during its tenure that caused harm to the countrymen. “Despite various conspiracies and plots, BNP could not be destroyed, and the party's popularity could not be undermined," he added.
