DHAKA, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal today said it was regrettable that some individuals, after availing themselves of the benefits and privileges provided by the state, engage only in implementing partisan agendas.

The chief state counsel made the remarks following the resignation letters submitted by seven deputy attorney generals and 11 assistant attorney generals.

The seven deputy attorney generals who resigned are Advocate Yusuf Ali, Advocate Shafiqur Rahman, Advocate Abdul Karim, Advocate Farid Uddin Khan, Advocate Golam Rahman Bhuiyan, Advocate Asad Uddin and Advocate Tarikul Islam.

The 11 assistant attorney generals who resigned are Advocate Imrul Kayes Rana, Advocate Humayun Kabir Tanim, Advocate Abdul Qaiyum Bhuiyan, Advocate Abdullahil Maruf Fahim, Advocate Jowadur Rahman, Advocate Shamsil Arefin, Advocate Mahbuba Akhter Roly, Advocate Nur Nabi Ujjal, Advocate Al Reza Amir, Advocate Rezaul Islam and Advocate Zakir Hossain.

"The statement citing the resignation of 18 law officers reflects their political ideology. The contents of their resignation letters prove that they were not steadfast in their professionalism," he told BSS.

The Attorney General further said appointments to such important state positions should prioritise merit, integrity, patriotism and dedication to duty.
