Govt wants to restore public trust thru action, not pledges: Mir Helal

CHATTOGRAM, June 23, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for the Ministry of Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin stated that 
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman not only makes commitments but also demonstrates the fulfillment to the country's citizens. 

He emphasized that the government prioritizes actions over mere words. In contrast, the previous authoritarian regime engaged in plundering under the 
guise of development, failing to undertake any substantial initiatives for the benefit of the populace.

The minister made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the inaugural and distribution ceremony of various development and social 
assistance initiatives in Hathazari and Chattogram on Tuesday. 

As part of the government's five-year initiative to plant 25 crore saplings, trees were distributed and planted across different educational and social 
institutions in Hathazari. 

In addition, sewing machines were provided to registered fishermen of the Halda River, Aman incentives were distributed by the Agriculture Department, 
and wheelchairs were given to individuals with disabilities in the sideline of the event.
 
The programme, which commenced at 1:30 pm at the Upazila Parishad (UP) premises, was chaired by Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad 
Abdullah Al Mumin. 

The event was attended by Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Mejbah Uddin, Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Shawkat Ali, Social Service Officer 
Mozahidul Islam, officials from various government departments, and leaders from the BNP and its affiliated organizations.
 
Earlier to the ceremony, the State Minister inaugurated the event by planting a sapling at the UP premises.
