DHAKA, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon will leave Dhaka for Beijing tonight to join the delegation accompanying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his ongoing state visit to China.
The minister will depart for Beijing at 10:30pm on a scheduled Air China flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) for a three-day official visit, said a press release here.
During his stay in China, Swapon will participate in several important policy-level meetings, including high-level bilateral talks between the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the Chinese President and Premier.
A major highlight of the visit will be the signing of several bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in the media and information technology sectors in the presence of the leaders of the two countries.
As part of the engagements, the Information Minister will sign a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on bilateral cooperation with China's leading international media organisation, China Media Group (CMG), and Xinhua News Agency.
Several senior government officials are already in Beijing as part of the Prime Minister's delegation, including Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, along with other state ministers, advisers and high-ranking officials.
The delegation led by the Information and Broadcasting Minister is scheduled to return home from Beijing on the night of June 26.
