DU retains top national position in QS World Rankings

DHAKA, June 18, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) has retained its position among the world's top 600 universities for the third consecutive year in the QS World University Rankings 2027: Top Global Universities, published by UK-based higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

DU has once again secured the top position among universities in Bangladesh, said a DU press release today.

A total of 1,504 universities worldwide were assessed in this year's rankings. The final results are based on average scores across nine performance indicators, each with a maximum score of 100.

The release said Dhaka University recorded an overall score of 28.3. It achieved 28.3 in Academic Reputation, reflecting its longstanding contribution to higher education and research in the country.

In the Employment Outcomes indicator, DU scored an outstanding 95.0, highlighting the strong employability and career success of its graduates. It also earned 50.8 in Employer Reputation, indicating a positive perception of DU graduates in the job market.

In research and global engagement indicators, the university scored 61.1 in International Research Network, showing growing international collaboration, and 60.6 in Sustainability, reflecting its commitment to environmental responsibility and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

However, DU scored relatively low in some areas, including 8.0 in Citations per Faculty and 8.0 in Faculty-Student Ratio. It also received 2.0 in International Faculty Ratio and 1.4 in International Student Ratio, underscoring the need for further improvement in internationalization and research capacity.

The university said the ranking reflects its continued progress and commitment to excellence in education, research, global engagement, and sustainable development.
