KU holds training on crop pest, disease identification

KHULNA, June 15, 2026 (BSS) – A training programme on crop pest and disease identification was held today at Khulna University (KU) under the HEAT sub-project titled “Morpho-Molecular and Smart Technology-Based Insect and Disease Detection, Their Biological Management and Transformation.”

The programme, titled “Identification of Common Crop Pests and Diseases,” was inaugurated in the morning at the conference room of the university’s Central Research Laboratory.

Head of the Agro technology Discipline Professor Md. Rezaul Islam chaired the inaugural session.

Sub-Project Manager (SPM) Dr. Md. Mostafa Kamal and Assistant Sub-Project Manager (ASPM) Professor Dr. Mosammat Sabiha Sultana, addressed the programme while ASPM Professor Dr. Shimul Das delivered the welcome speech.

Following the inaugural session, four technical sessions were conducted where experts discussed in detail the identification of common crop pests and diseases and related management practices.

The training programme was funded by the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) sub-project of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC).

Marginal farmers from Batiaghata, Dighalia, Dumuria, Rupsha and Terokhada upazilas of Khulna participated in the training.
