DHAKA, June 1, 2026 (BSS) - Three more children have died with measles-like
symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while the total number of
suspected measles cases has reached 72,070 since March 15.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued today by the Control
Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the release, 1,134 new suspected measles cases were reported
during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases to
72,070 recorded between March 15 and June 1.
During the last 24 hours, 45 new confirmed measles cases were detected,
raising the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 9,094. A total
of 57,902 suspected measles patients were admitted to different hospitals
between March 15 and June 1. Of them, 53,722 have recovered and been
discharged.
No deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the last 24 hours. However,
the total number of deaths from confirmed measles has reached 90 since March
15.
Three deaths with suspected measles symptoms were reported during the past 24
hours, bringing the total number of suspected measles-related deaths to 498
till now.
Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number of suspected measles cases so
far, with 33,970 people affected. Of them, 6,351 cases have been confirmed as
measles.
