DHAKA, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has provided emergency medical equipment to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to help strengthen Bangladesh's response to the ongoing measles situation.
The equipment was formally handed over at a ceremony held at the Secretariat in Dhaka today. The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain, received the donation on behalf of the government.
On behalf of the International Committee of the Red Cross Dhaka Delegation, Health Programme Manager Dr Jalisa Khanam delivered the supplies.
According to officials, the donation includes 14 oxygen concentrators, 570 airway management devices, 12 bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitators and manual suction devices.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said the equipment will help enhance emergency preparedness and improve the capacity of healthcare facilities to manage respiratory complications and other critical cases linked to measles and similar illnesses.
Officials from the ministry and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross Dhaka Delegation were present at the event.
The ICRC reiterated its commitment to continued cooperation with national authorities in strengthening emergency response systems and overall health sector capacity in Bangladesh.
