DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS - The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has directed all the government healthcare centres across the country to designate separate wards or cabins for treating measles and suspected measles patients.
An order issued today by Dr Abu Hossain Md Moinul Ahsan, Director of the Hospital and Clinic Wing of the Health Directorate, instructed the hospitals to ensure admission and proper treatment of measles patients.
Hospitals must ensure adequate doctors and healthcare workers in measles isolation wards, said the order. Specialist physicians have also been instructed to conduct rounds every morning and evening including during holidays.
The order further stated that only one guardian or visitor will be allowed to stay with each admitted patient.
The DGHS also instructed the authorities to regularly upload the information on measles and suspected measles patients to the MIS server through the following portal. DGHS Surveillance Portal- http:surveillance.dghs.gov.bd.
Hospitals were also advised to contact the hotline number 01759114488 if necessary.
The directive will apply to all medical college hospitals, specialized hospitals, district and general hospitals and upazila health complexes across the country.
According to the Health Directorate, the directive was issued to strengthen and better coordinate the management and treatment of measles patients at government healthcare facilities.
