PABNA, May 17, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan
Salauddin Tuku has said the government is encouraging the expansion of
Bangladesh's capacity to export meat to foreign markets.
He made the remarks today while speaking to journalists after visiting the
Bengal Meat Processing Factory in Pabna, said a press release.
Tuku said the government is also giving importance to earning foreign
currency through the export of domestically produced goods and farm-based
products, while also meeting local demand.
The state minister said the government is also making its strides to make
marginalized communities and farmers economically self-reliant.
"We have abundant resources. By utilizing them, we are considering how to
further strengthen the country's economy in the future, especially how
marginalized communities and farmers can benefit and how employment
opportunities for them can be increased," he said.
Replying to a question from journalists, he said that the Bengal Meat
authorities are producing and processing meat using highly scientific and
safe methods, and are already exporting on a limited scale.
He added that the government will review what kind of support can be provided
to ensure that there are no obstacles to exports.
During the visit, he observed the factory's production operations, hygienic
meat processing system, quality control measures, preservation methods, and
overall activities.
Prime Minister's Special Assistant Syed Bin Abdullah, Pabna-2 constituency
lawmaker AKM Selim Reza Habib, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Md Delwar
Hossain and Department of Livestock Services Director General Md. Shahzaman
Khan were present, among others.
Later, the state minister visited the Baghabari Ghat Dairy Factory of the
Bangladesh Milk Producers' Cooperative Union Limited (Milk Vita).
During the inspection, he toured the factory's milk collection, processing,
production activities, quality control systems, storage, and marketing
operations.
