Dulu praises Turkey’s support in Rohingya crisis

DHAKA, May 17, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has expressed deep gratitude to Turkish government and people for spontaneously standing beside Rohingyas who took shelter in Bangladesh after being forcibly displaced from their homeland Myanmar.

The minister said this when Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen paid a courtesy call on him at his office at the Secretariat.

Mentioning that Bangladesh faces various natural disasters due to climate change and geographical location, the minister expected more effective cooperation from Turkey in the modernization of disaster management. 

He particularly stressed joint partnership with Turkey in technical areas such as improvement of disaster early warning systems, construction of modern cyclone shelters and innovation of lightning protection technology.

During the meeting, Dulu recalled the brotherly relations between the two nations and expressed hope that the bilateral relations would become stronger and more consolidated in the coming days.

The Turkish Ambassador conveyed greetings to the newly elected government and people of Bangladesh. 

He expressed commitment to stand beside Bangladesh in disaster management and various development sectors and pledged to open up new horizons of cooperation between the two countries.

Senior officials of the ministry were present on the occasion.
