NETROKONA, May 14, 2026 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal today called for maintaining zero tolerance against corruption and drugs.

He made the remarks while addressing a reception programme for district champion and runner-up players of 'Notun Kuri Sports 2026' and distributing government assistance among fish farmers at the Kalmakanda Upazila Parishad auditorium in the district.

Kayser Kamal, elected from the Netrokona-1 (Durgapur-Kalmakanda) constituency, urged parents to encourage their children to engage in regular sports and physical exercise instead of excessive smartphone use, saying this would help protect society from the deadly grip of drugs.

Speaking about the government's plans for improving the sports sector, he said, "The current democratic government is restructuring the sports sector. The dream project 'Notun Kuri' envisioned by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman has once again been brought to the forefront, where the focus is not on any individual's name but on building the nation through the new generation."

Promising the construction of a modern stadium in Kalmakanda, he said, "We have already communicated with the ministry and submitted a letter. I am personally following up, and InshaAllah, a stadium will be built here."

Referring to irregularities in rice procurement at food warehouses, he said that no leniency would be shown if middlemen and mill owners were favored by excluding genuine farmers from the list.

He also described flooding in the haor areas as "man-made" and instructed the administration to immediately conduct eviction drives against illegal enclosures and embankment occupiers operating in the name of fish farming.

Kalmakanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S M Mikhail Islam presided over the program.
