Deadline for income tax return submission by non-individual taxpayers ends

DHAKA, May 14, 2026 (BSS) - The National Board of Revenue today said the extended deadline for submission of income tax returns by all taxpayers
except general individual and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) will expire on May 17, 2026.

In a press release issued today, the NBR said the deadline for filing income tax returns for the tax year 2025-26 had earlier been extended up to May 15,
2026 to facilitate taxpayers and help achieve the government's revenue collection target.

However, since May 15 falls on a weekly government holiday (Friday), the next working day, May 17, 2026, will be considered the final date for submission
of returns in accordance with the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 2023, the release said.

The revenue authority also clarified that no further extension of the legally fixed and extended deadline will be granted by the NBR after this date.

According to the release, taxpayers other than general individual and Hindu Undivided Families who fail to submit their returns within the stipulated
period may still file returns under the self-assessment system up to June 30, 2026 by paying the prescribed tax in line with Section 174 of the Income Tax
Act, 2023 through their respective tax circles.

The NBR also sought sincere cooperation from all taxpayers in maintaining the country's economic progress and complying with legal obligations.
