Training, advocacy meeting held in Mollahat to cut deaths from heart disease, stroke

BAGERHAT, May 14, 2026 (BSS) - A training workshop and quality improvement advocacy meeting was held at the Mollahat Upazila Health Complex of the district to reduce mortality due to heart disease and stroke and strengthen the high blood pressure control program.

The workshop was held this morning at the Upazila Health Complex auditorium. It was presided over by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ten Mong.

National Heart Foundation, Khulna Zone Divisional Program Officer Aslam Parvez and Surveillance Medical Officer Dr. Ali Nur Hasan were present as trainers in the training workshop. Logistics Officer Md. Rasheduzzaman, Field Officer Md. Ataur Rahman and other concerned officials were also present. 

CHCPs of 20 community clinics of the upazila, representatives of community groups and local leaders participated in the workshop. During this time, emphasis was placed on increasing public awareness of hypertension and diabetes control, regular screening and early detection of the disease.  

Newly appointed doctors, nursing supervisors, SSN, SAC MO, storekeepers and statisticians, along with relevant officials, participated in the quality improvement advocacy meeting held on the same day.  

The meeting discussed in detail the issues of increasing hypertension registration and screening activities, strengthening manpower in NCD corners, following medical protocols, strengthening counseling for lifestyle changes and reducing the missed visit rate. 

The organizers said that through such activities, it will be possible to improve the quality of primary healthcare and will play an important role in reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.
