Zubaida Rahman opens ‘Shishu Swarga Model’ for persons with disabilities

DHAKA, May 14, 2026 (BSS) – Dr Zubaida Rahman, the vice president of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation and a renowned cardiologist, today launched the “Shishu Swarga Model” programme as part of the move for ensuring healthcare and rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities.

She inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at a function at Korail slum in the city under the initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Before inaugurating the programme, Zubaida Rahman, also the wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, visited different stalls displaying educational materials and daily essentials for children with special needs at the venue.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare MA Muhit spoke at the function as the chief speaker while State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, Prime Minister’s Adviser for Health Affairs SM Ziauddin Hyder and Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) Executive Director Professor Dr Farhad Halim Donar spoke as specials guests.

Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry Md Quamruzzaman Chowdhury presided over the function while Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director General Professor Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas was also present.

Besides, acting Representative of UNICEF in Bangladesh Stanley Gwavuya, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) Chairman Engineer Md Reazul Islam, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan and Prime Minister’s Assistant Personal Physician Dr ANM Monowarul Kadir (Bitu) spoke at the seminar on the “Shishu Swarga Model” as guests of honor. 

They focused healthcare and rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities.
